Carved asanoha (麻の葉) texture came out nice. It was much easier to carve on a straight cylindrical surface compared to a vase with more complex curves. Looks like the height shrank more than the circumference. You can see the pattern is very slightly wider than it is tall. Makes sense, since shrinkage occurs more between platelet widths vs platelet lengths. If I wanted it perfect, then I would have to compensate for the difference in my carving. Something to try next time?
